This seems pretty good to me. Sorry to ask a stupid question, but what is the advantage of the FZ over the FZ80? Don't they both have the same sensor, so at face value the same image quality?
Is the FZ lens better? The range is much less than the FZ But FZ has delivered great results, so while I likely might end up flush out FZ80 in the toilet, my next camera might very well be the FZ, becourse basic quality is on par with FZ, but with some very nice improvements, most of all better autofocus. I did find a tube but it was a different Lumix model and it didn't explain the fz Any thoughts on where to find more info?
Macro AF is set with a button on back of camera. Pressing it cycles between different AF choices, including macro AF and manual focus.
You can set the AF box. This way you can shoot a bird inside a bunch of branches and it will AF on the bird and not the branches. I agree it is not the easiest to do. I tried it again after reading above and now it is making more sense. And I can do much the same with AF, except by using telephoto effect, the aperture closes more. So I think for something like a flower, if I wanted bokeh effect, I would need to use MF to keep the f stop at the lowest setting.
I haven't figured out when to use AF zoom or macro zoom settings. Aperture is easiest to control OOF background When you did a search on YouTube, did you come across Graham Houghton? He has series on many of the Panasonic bridge cameras. If you haven't found his series, it might be worth checking out.
Hope this helps. I joined the forum to answer your question, I had some similar questions and found this series on Youtube:.
Trying to learn my Lumix fz80
This is the first of about FZ80 video tutorials done by Graham Houghton. Most of these tutorials are FZ80 specific but he has a ton of other tutorials that are applicable to the Lumix platform in general.
A ton of info, Graham is awesome at explaining the hows and whys of the camera. I think he also posts here in the forum so don't be surprised if he chimes in as well.

But none of these is going to fit in your coat, unless you have very capacious pockets.
The control layout on the rear is little changed from the earlier model. Below that is a focus mode selector button and below that a playback button. The four-way controller has ISO, white balance, self-timer and drive modes, and AF modes at its cardinal points with the menu button in the middle.
The one change here is the addition of drive modes, which previously had a dedicated button on the top panel, to the four way controller. The Q Menu button also doubles up as programmable function button f3. On earlier Panasonic Bridge super-zooms you had to remove the battery to charge it in the supplied AC charger.
The combined battery and card compartment is located in the grip and accessed by a door in the bottom of the camera.Recording Video with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000
It still compares pretty favourably with the shots quoted for the PowerShot SX60 HS though you can extend that to shots in Eco mode. The maximum distance quoted for the flash at the wide angle lens setting and with the ISO sensitivity set to Auto is As well as that, the touch screen makes it a breeze to change camera settings and make menu selections.
From here you can activate the touch-shutter feature, apply a filter effect, set the AE metering area or access any of the touch function buttons, for example to turn on Wifi or access the 4K photo mode. The Electronic viewfinder is also upgraded with a new 0. This provides a more detailed and more stable view than the 0. One solution to this is to switch the Live view mode from its default 30fps refresh rate to the 60fps option. This results in a lower resolution display at double the refresh rate which produces a much more stable image, particularly when either the subject, the camera, or both are moving.
Above left: at 3. S image stabilisation which moves the lens elements to compensate for camera shake and permit hand-held shots at slower shutter speeds. To test the stabilisation I zoomed the lens to its maximum mm focal length and took a series of shots in shutter priority mode at progressively slower shutter speeds first with the stabilisation turned off, then with it turned on.
S off. The clever part is Panasonic equips its 4k Photo cameras with software that lets you easily capture bursts of video before scrolling through the footage and extracting the perfect frame as a JPEG image, all in-camera.
